Ericsson’s rigorous standards pushed us to develop a state-of-art facility in 12 months

It has an expansive portfolio across telecommunication networks, digital operations, managed services, and emerging businesses. With the development of IoT, 5G, and automation technology, Ericsson is the trailblazer of creating game-changing technology that can exponentially heighten connectivity in the world.
Ericsson’s Requirement
Ericsson is the leading advocate of Technology for Good in India. It emphasises sustainability and aims to reduce environmental impacts and emissions. Taking its initiative forward, Ericsson was looking for a greenfield built-to-suit factory. It will utilise the factory to manufacture existing and future products for 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies and radio and microwave frequency products in India. Ericsson also wanted this unit to serve as an export hub for its exports to South East Asia, West Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ericsson found the IndoSpace Industrial Park Chakan as an ideal choice for its project. Mainly because of its proximity to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Pune and access to a transportation network comprising a railway station, seaport, and an international airport.
Design, Technical, & Execution Expertise
Ericsson's technical experts follow rigorous standards, and IndoSpace aimed to adhere to those standards. We worked with them for six months to thoroughly understand their facility design requirements. IndoSpace developed four buildings with a total built-up area of 0.2 mn sq. ft. It included an Administration Block, a Production Block, a Warehouse, and multiple Utility Blocks, along with space reserved for expansion. We assured that our turnaround time for construction and execution would not exceed 12 months.

Customisation & Sustainability
We implemented the following features to provide efficient services to Ericsson:
- Pre-engineered building with insulation for factory and warehouse and a reinforced concrete structure for the Admin Block and the Utility Blocks
- Precast solid walls up to 3.6 m high and sandwich metal panels up to the roof
- Electrically operated sectional overhead doors, dock revellers, inflatable dock shelters, and automated rapid roll-up doors with sensors
- LED fixtures to provide 400 lux illumination, 1200 kVA UPS, 4000 kVA DG, 3200 kVA transformer, and complete electrical system
- HVAC system containing an air-conditioned production area with water-cooled chillers (825 TR), a hot water generator, and an electronics cleanroom facility with airlock lobbies
- Clear height of 9 m, 5T/MT 2, FM2-compliant design with HTC polished ESD floors
- Fire Hydrant System as per National Building Code (NBC) India, fire-fighting system (sprinkler system), gas-based fire suppression systems for server room, and fire detection system as per FM Global standards
We designed the facility to ensure sustainable use of resources. The project was registered for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a green building certification programme developed by US Green Building Council (USGBC). It also earned the Silver certification. Some of the notable sustainability features of Ericsson’s facility are:
- Rockwool insulated roof and wall
- High-efficiency chillers and pumps
- Solar street lights
- Energy-efficient LED lighting
- Low flow plumbing fixtures and efficient sanitary fixtures
- Double glazed façade with meticulously selected glass colours
- Landscaping with bioswale and greenery with native species surrounding the building
- Grass pavers for roads
- Toilet sewer line connection to Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with a dual plumbing system
