Modern Industrial and Logistics Park across India – IndoSpace
In the last two decades, India has given huge importance to developing industrial sectors like manufacturing, FMCG, Aerospace, Automotive, and textiles as essential components of its economy. As a result of the investments, these industries have transformed into prime sectors contributing significantly to the Indian economy. With more and more companies expanding their businesses in these sectors, the necessity for fully compliant, smart, sustainable, and premium warehousing is growing.
Located on the southwestern coast of India, Karnataka is home to over 400 Fortune 500 companies and is recognized to be the innovation hub of Asia. Karnataka is a leader in India’s technology sector as well as one of the leading industrial states of the country having a number of industrial areas. These industrial areas in Karnataka are a popular location for automotive, aeronautics, electronics, food processing, heavy machinery and textile industries and are well-equipped with sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZs).
Karnataka ranks fourth in automobile production in India and contributes to 8.5% of the national output in this sector. The state has over 50 automobile component manufacturers carrying out their operations mostly near its capital, Bengaluru. This enormous presence influences the demand for Grade A warehouses in the industrial areas of Karnataka. Mahindra Aerospace, Honda Motorcycles, Volvo, Bando, Scania, and Lumax are some of the companies whose manufacturing units are established in the state’s industrial areas.
Karnataka with its Industrial Policy 2020-25 aims to develop itself as a global leader in sectors like advanced manufacturing, R&D and innovation along with plans to promote Tier II and Tier III cities, to facilitate investments as well as maintain an annual industrial growth rate of 10%. A Special Investment Region (SIR) Act has also been introduced to create, operate and regulate investment regions. The previous industrial policy established several new industrial corridors within the state– namely Bangalore-Mandya-Mysore-Chamrajnagar, Chitradurga-Bellary-Gulbarga-Bidar, and Dharwad-Koppal-Raichur.
The industrial areas in Karnataka offer easy connectivity and accessibility to national and international markets with the state having two international airports, 14 national highways, and 115 state highways along with a rail network of 3,250 km. Karnataka has a coastline of 320 km with 10 minor ports and one major port in Mangaluru. The Bengaluru-Mumbai Economic Corridor and Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor passes through the state ensuring further growth to industrial areas in Karnataka. The flourishing state stands first in the world to have set up a 2,000 MW solar park– at Pavagada– the largest in the country, of which 1,400 MW is operational. The total installed power capacity in the state stands at 28,800 MW.
